Sheldon Smith is a nationally recognised diversity and inclusion leader, currently serving as Senior Diversity & Inclusion Advisor at Curtin University. With over 30 years of experience in education, advocacy, and cultural change, Sheldon has led transformative initiatives including Curtin’s Gender Affirmation Leave policy, Inclusive Language Guide, and LGBTIQA+ Ally training. He chairs the university’s Global Diversity Taskforce and LGBTQIA+ Advisory Group, and is a senior facilitator of the MATE Bystander program. His work spans gender equity, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, and domestic violence prevention, reaching communities across Australia and internationally. In 2024, Sheldon received the CCIWA Individual Change Maker Award for his outstanding impact. Drawing on lived experience, he empowers others to create respectful, inclusive environments where everyone feels valued.
