Dr Angela Jackson is a Commissioner for Social Policy at the Productivity Commission, appointed for a five‑year term in 2025. An experienced economist, she has worked across tax, fiscal and social policy, beginning her career at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet before serving as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Australian Finance Minister during the Global Financial Crisis. Angela has authored high‑profile reports on health, aged care, disability, housing and gender policy and has advised governments on major economic and social reforms. She has previously served as a Commissioner at the Commonwealth Grants Commission, a member of the Economic Inclusion Advisory Committee and on the independent panel reviewing the Commonwealth Government’s COVID‑19 response.


Angela is the National Chair of the Women in Economics Network, an adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Tasmania and holds a PhD on the Economics of Disability from Monash University. Drawing on her expertise at the intersection of economics and social policy, Angela offers deep insights into addressing systemic inequities and creating sustainable pathways that improve women’s long‑term financial security and participation in the economy.
