David Carter is the Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of RACQ, leading the organisation to deliver long‑term, sustainable value to its members. Since joining in 2020, he has overseen RACQ’s continued evolution as one of Queensland’s most trusted member‑owned organisations, balancing its motoring, insurance and banking services with its strong community focus.

With 30 years’ experience in financial services, David has held senior leadership roles at Suncorp Group and ANZ, bringing deep expertise in strategy, governance and transformation. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce, is a Fellow of CPA Australia and the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. David also serves as a director on several boards, including the Australian Automobile Association, Queensland Ballet, and Netball Queensland.

Drawing on his experience leading member‑focused organisations, David shares practical insights on building trust across diverse communities, creating influence through authentic engagement and embedding accountability to drive meaningful impact.
