Carolin Kautz is the CEO of SinoVise, a geopolitical risk consulting company that focusses on advising businesses on geopolitical risks, especially in their China engagement. She regularly speaks on geopolitical risks for businesses and China-related issues, for example in cooperation with the Australia-China Business Council, the Asia Society Australia, the German Asia-Pacific Business Association, the Chamber of Commerce Hamburg or the Futures Hub at the Australia National University. In addition to her consulting and public speaking activities, she provides thought leadership, for example through publications such as her newsletter "Interpreting China", contributions to the Lowy Interpreter or to the " Global Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) Initiative: Manufacturing Transformation Insight Report 2025".
Carolin holds a PhD in contemporary China studies with a political science focus and has held a faculty position at the University of Goettingen in Germany. She is currently also a sessional academic at the University of New South Wales where she teaches on topics such as global politics, international security and international political economy.
