Brighter Super

Kate Farrar is the Chief Executive Officer of Brighter Super, where she has led the fund’s transformation from a $10 billion Queensland public-sector fund to a $35 billion, 280,000-member success story. Under her leadership, Brighter Super completed the first industry fund acquisition of a retail fund, restructured operations for long-term sustainability, and delivered a 40% reduction in administration fees for members.

Kate’s commitment to financial equity is clear in her member-first approach, anchored by a bold goal: for every member to retire with access to quality advice. She is expanding access to personalised financial guidance by increasing the number of super specialists across Queensland and has launched the Referral Partner Program to support members with more complex needs.

As a workplace leader, Kate has championed progressive, inclusive employee policies through Brighter Super’s latest EBA. These include gender-neutral carer’s leave, hybrid work flexibility, reproductive health and domestic violence leave, and the payment of superannuation on paid parental leave. These initiatives promote retention and advancement of women in the workforce and reflect her belief that financial equity starts with workplace culture.

At the Summit, Kate will explore how financial equity can be delivered at scale through inclusive leadership and advice-led strategies. With a track record of innovation and impact, she offers a grounded yet ambitious perspective on building fairer financial futures for individuals, organisations, and communities across Queensland.
